Sweater Spinning – that is quite a bit of fiber!

30 Jan

Trying to finish spinning 2 lbs. of charcoal gray alpaca for the winter Olympics. On my last bobbin of singles – looking forward to plying away tomorrow.

Alpaca

Tour de Fleece - 1st bobbin

Maine Alpaca Handspun

It looks like I will probably be a bit shy on the yardage I’ll need to knit a seamless hybrid (Ravelry Link), so I’ll mix in some 2-ply Finn I bought in Maine to give me the yardage necessary.  I’ll do some contrast hems with Berocco’s standby Ultra Alpaca. That is the plan, so back to spinning I go!

Lovely spinning! That’s going to make a fabulous seamless hybrid, especially with contrast hems.

Ooh that grey alpaca looks scrumptious – and it’s so lofty after plying its going to make such a cozy sweater! I’ve had a spinning for a sweater goal for a long time – I love following along with your progress.
